Roles and Rights Management for Data Trusts
In ACIS 2025 proceedings
Abstract

In a data trust ecosystem, the data flow from one end to another must be thoroughly observed and suitably managed. To achieve secure and trustworthy data sharing, a comprehensive framework for data access needs to be implemented. The design of such a framework requires delineating the obligatory components and their interconnection to generate a coherent and seamless data exchange between different data actors (entities). Identifying and unequivocally amalgamating the management components and access control models contributes to meeting the requirements for the design of a roles and rights management framework, which can guarantee a smooth and reliable data flow between different entities in data trust ecosystems. This study applies design science research to determine the requirements and to design a roles and rights management framework as an essential element of the data trust ecosystem.
