14th International Conference on Wirtschaftsinformatik (WI 2019)

25-27 February, Siegen, Germany

Members of the CEIR team participated in the Wirtschaftsinformatik (WI) conference 2019 in Siegen, Germany. The conference theme was “Human Practice. Digital Ecologies. Our Future.” and two research papers were presented by CEIR team members.

The first paper, “Entwicklung einer Definition für Social Business Objects (SBO) zur Modellierung von Unternehmensinformationen”, authored by Berit Gebel-Sauer and Petra Schubert, was presented on Monday. The paper focuses on the Social Network of Business Objects (SoNBO), a generic concept for the integration of business information across different application systems. Based on a structured literature analysis, interviews with organisations and the analysis of existing applications in a case company, a definition for the term of “Social Business Objects” was developed.

The second paper, “A Multiorganisational Study of the Drivers and Barriers of Enterprise Collaboration Systems-Enabled Change”, authored by Clara Nitschke, Sue Williams and Petra Schubert, was presented on Tuesday. The study is based on findings gathered from IndustryConnect member companies and identifies drivers and barriers to ECS-enabled change from two perspectives: the company perspective and the personal perspective of those responsible for ECS project. The identified drivers and barriers were consolidated and visualised in a matrix that shows different functional and business-oriented issues relevant to companies and practitioners in their ECS projects. This work now provides the basis for further research into ECS-enabled change and the matrix is also being used by organisations to collect information about drivers and barriers of ECS-enabled change and plan future actions.
